MENTALITY IN FOOTBALL
Surround Yourself with Positivity
To become a high level footballer, it is important to recognise the difference between people who lift you up and people who hold you back. Keep negativity out of your football circle.
-
A negative person will try to talk you out of training; a positive person will encourage you to go.
-
A negative person will hold you back; a positive person will push you forward.
-
A negative person will say you cannot do it; a positive person will remind you that you have not done it yet.
-
A negative person will tell you to stop dreaming; a positive person will believe in the dream with you.
There is a huge difference between a negative mindset and a winning mindset.
Football is not only about technical ability; it is also about mentality, discipline, and belief.
If you are playing in, or aiming to play in high level football, surround yourself with people who want to see you succeed:
-
People who support you.
-
People who believe in you.
-
People who encourage you to train, even when you do not feel like it.
-
People who remind you that you are good enough and capable of improving.
You do not need people telling you that your goals are unrealistic or that you will never make it. Becoming successful in life is hard enough, and becoming a better footballer takes commitment, resilience, and belief.
Do not make the journey harder by surrounding yourself with people who drain your confidence. The right people can be the difference between chasing your goals and being held back from them.
The people around you influence your standards, your attitude, and your ambition, so choose your circle carefully.
In football, avoid relying on people who lack ambition or make you doubt yourself. Their attitude can slowly affect your own.
-
You are influenced by the people you spend time with.
-
You are shaped by the voices you listen to.
-
As the new season begins, notice who genuinely supports you and who dismisses your ambition.
Once you recognise the negative influences, create distance from them. It may be difficult, but it is a necessary sacrifice if you want to keep growing.
Negativity spreads quickly. It can pull positive people down, weaken confidence, and make ambition feel smaller than it really is.
Protect your energy. Protect your mindset. Protect your ambition.
You can still be friendly with people socially, but they should not be allowed to limit your development as a footballer.
Keep the right people close: those who challenge you, support you, and help you believe that your growth has no limit.
KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!!
