This section is aimed primarily, but not exclusively, at coaches and helps give them ideas of areas to work on with their players, but is not a series of drills (these can be found elsewhere on the internet).
WHAT IS A COACH?
In my opinion a coach's main role is to work with the club (especially the manager) to develop the players individually but within a team framework, allowing players to flourish & develop and become more valuable members of the club.
A coach's responsibility is to prepare players ready for matches, their career and, ideally, be like a teacher at school (but in the football world) teaching players not only how, but why!!!
The best coaches, in my opinion, work all across the four corners spectrum, not just in the technical corner.
Although technical work is vital to develop a player it is only a means to an end not an end in itself (and its not a set of mantras!! Remember players actually play against human beings who react irrationally, not cones that don't move, think or change!!) And remember, repetition is the key to success but repetition in itself is not enough. If you keep repeating bad practice you get worse!!
So, focus on the "soft skills" such as communication, game awareness and reading the game, with as much commitment as the technical skills (which they use to better achieve the "soft skills" above!!)
